3FTL Mission
WE EXIST TO SAVE THE LIVES OF THOSE WHO SAVE US.
3FTL is a comprehensive mental health treatment team providing support, guidance, and accountability for first responders.
From intake to empowerment, we walk with you every step of the way.
3FTL Programs are created and customized to help first-responders heal from:
-
Acute stress is the immediate reaction to a stressful event or situation. It triggers the body's fight-or-flight response, leading to symptoms such as increased heart rate, rapid breathing, and heightened alertness. In first responders, acute stress can occur during emergencies, intense incidents, or critical incidents like rescues or life-threatening situations. Symptoms typically resolve once the stressful situation ends.
By comprehensively addressing acute stress, 3FTL can create a supportive environment where first responders feel empowered to seek help, manage stress effectively, and maintain their mental and emotional well-being.
-
Anxiety is a natural response to stress or perceived threats. It involves feelings of fear, worry, and unease that can range from mild to severe. Common symptoms include rapid heartbeat, sweating, trembling, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating. While occasional anxiety is normal, persistent or excessive anxiety that interferes with daily life may indicate an anxiety disorder. Types of anxiety disorders include generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, and specific phobias.
By implementing strategies learned in therapy, 3FTL can create a comprehensive support system that empowers first responders to effectively manage anxiety, improve their mental health, and enhance their overall quality of life.
-
Depression is a mood disorder characterized by persistent feelings of sadness, loss of interest or pleasure in activities once enjoyed, changes in appetite or weight, difficulty sleeping or oversleeping, energy loss, feelings of worthlessness or guilt, difficulty concentrating, and thoughts of death or suicide. It can affect how a person thinks, feels, and handles daily activities. Depression can vary in severity and may be triggered by stressful life events, genetics, biochemical imbalances, or other factors.
Through these tailored interventions and comprehensive support services, 3FTL aims to enhance the mental health and overall quality of life for first responders struggling with depression, promoting resilience and recovery within the community.
-
Grief is a natural response to loss, encompassing emotional, psychological, and physical reactions to the death of a loved one or significant life change. It involves a range of feelings such as sadness, loneliness, anger, guilt, and yearning. Grief can also manifest in physical symptoms like fatigue, changes in appetite, and sleep disturbances. It is a complex process that varies in duration and intensity for each individual.
By offering tailored grief support services and a compassionate, understanding environment, 3FTL aims to assist first responders in navigating the complex emotions of grief, fostering healing, resilience, and emotional well-being within the responder community.
-
Delayed Stress (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder - PTSD): Delayed stress, often associated with PTSD, occurs when the stress response persists long after the triggering event. First responders may experience delayed stress due to repeated exposure to traumatic events over time. Symptoms include intrusive memories, nightmares, flashbacks, emotional numbness, avoidance of reminders, and heightened arousal. Delayed stress can significantly impact daily life and requires professional intervention and support.
Addressing PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) in first responders requires a comprehensive approach that acknowledges the unique challenges and stressors they face in their line of duty
-
Addiction is a chronic, relapsing disorder characterized by compulsive drug seeking, use, and behaviors despite harmful consequences. It involves changes in the brain's structure and function, leading to intense cravings and a loss of control over substance use. Addiction can affect various aspects of a person's life, including physical health, mental well-being, relationships, and professional responsibilities.
3FTL can support first responders in addressing addiction, promoting recovery, and enhancing their overall well-being and professional effectiveness. It's essential to create a supportive environment that reduces sti3FTLa, encourages help-seeking behaviors, and provides comprehensive care tailored to the unique needs of responders.
-
Suicidal ideation refers to thoughts, plans, or fantasies about taking one's own life. It ranges from fleeting considerations to detailed plans, and can be accompanied by varying levels of intent. Suicidal ideation is often associated with feelings of hopelessness, despair, and a perceived inability to cope with emotional or psychological pain. It is a serious concern that requires immediate attention and intervention.
It's crucial to create a supportive and compassionate environment that prioritizes the mental health and well-being of first responders, addressing suicidal ideation with proactive measures, timely interventions, and ongoing support to promote recovery and resilience.
-
First responders face unique challenges that can make achieving work-life balance difficult.
3FTL can create a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes work-life balance, enhances job satisfaction, and supports the overall well-being of first responders. It's essential to recognize the unique demands of their profession and provide tailored support to help them achieve a sustainable balance between work and personal life.
What First Responders Are Saying About 3FTL
Our Message
Psalm 40; 1-3
1 I waited a long time for the Eternal; He finally knelt down to hear me. He listened to my weak and whispered cry.
2 He reached down and drew me from the deep, dark hole where I was stranded, mired in the muck and clay. With a gentle hand, He pulled me out to set me down safely on a warm rock; He held me until I was steady enough to continue the journey again.
3 As if that were not enough, because of Him my mind is clearing up. Now I have a new song to sing— a song of praise to the One who saved me. Because of what He’s done, many people will see and come to trust in the Eternal.
