Barbara grew up on Long Island NY, and moved to Texas full time after graduating from Southern Methodist University in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies. Always pondering the big questions in life, Barbara was drawn to studying the major religions and philosophies in the world. After college Barbara worked in the advertising field for 12 years, until finally moving on to pursue counseling full time.
Barbara was reading Dr. Meier’s books for over 20 years by the time she began working at the Meier Clinic in Richardson, this exposure early on likely sparked her love for mental health. Barbara graduated from Dallas Baptist University in 2015 with a Masters in Counseling, and went on to work full-time in the Richardson Catalyst Day program PHP/IOP where she saw a wide range of diagnosis and began to seek a better understanding of how the brain works. Focusing on trauma, stress and brain health has been helpful in working with clients and their families. She has a passion for helping people to work toward long term mental health, focusing on positive skills the client already has, and working with the client to find solutions.
Being married to a Firefighter / Paramedic, Barbara understands the unique opportunities first responder families have to grow and enrich their lives.
“I believe as a society we owe our best to the people who show up and sacrifice for us. Being married to a firefighter paramedic, I know first hand how important it is for our first responders to get the best care and commitment we can offer. I do this work because I saw a need for the kind of support, guidance and accountability that 3FTL offers to the men and women who put their own lives on the line every day.”
